Young creatives wanted!

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is seeking young creatives to submit entries into the 2017 Urban Art + Design Exhibition and the Youth Short Film Festival.

Held as part of the Council’s biennial Canvas Youth Arts and Events Program, the Exhibition and Short Film Festival provide an opportunity for young people aged between 12 and 25 year who live, work, study or volunteer in the Council area, to showcase their creativity to the community, and win cash prizes.


Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition

The Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition calls on our young creative community to draw on inspirations, trends and ideas to express their perceptions of modern life in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, through 2D (painting, illustration, photography, graphics, mixed media) or 3D (sculpture, jewellery, textiles) artwork.

The Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition will be open to the public from 26 September – 6 October 2017 at the Norwood Town Hall. The works will be assessed by a panel and winners will be announced at the exhibition opening on 25 September. The overall winner will receive $500, $150 for the People’s Choice Award, and subsequent prizes in age categories for both 2D and 3D artworks.


Youth Short Film Festival

The Youth Short Film Festival has been held biennially since 2009 with an aim to foster youth participation and to showcase the talents of young people in the area of short film.

All entries will be showcased at the Short Film Festival event held in the Norwood Concert Hall on Friday 6 October and will be assessed by a panel of judges .Winners will be announced and prizes awarded on the night, with the $1000 prize for Best Entry. Additional prizes will be awarded for three age categories (12 – 15 years, 16 – 19 years and 20 – 25 years).

Entries into the Urban Youth Art + Design Exhibition and the Youth Short Film Festival must be received by 12 noon, Monday 11 September 2017.
