NPSP Rising Star awarded for economic development excellence
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Economic Development Coordinator, Monique Warren, has received the national Rising Star Award for her demonstrated leadership and excellence in economic development.
Ms Warren, who commenced her career in Local Government in 2008, was approached by the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters in 2012, to lead the development and delivery of its suite of boutique and iconic events.
In 2015, Monique was identified for the position of Economic Development Coordinator, a role she thrives in today.
“Monique has been involved in and co-ordinated a number of significant economic development projects and initiatives, all of which have transformed the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters to become a leader in Local Government Economic Development,” said Mayor Robert Bria.
Monique has developed strong and effective working relationships with many of the City’s 6,000 business owners and operators, to create vibrant mainstreet precincts and deliver initiatives such as The Food Secrets of Glynde & Stepney and the East Side Wine & Ale Trail.
“Through her exceptional organisational skills and passion for excellence, Monique has carefully and purposefully managed these food manufacturing initiatives to the point where there are now 22 participating businesses, sell-out monthly bus tours, and recognition by Local Government in South Australia as a genuine success story in the promotion of local businesses.”
With tertiary qualifications in marketing, Monique has also been instrumental in the rebranding of key business precincts within the City, continues to progress the Council’s Economic development agenda, and demonstrates leadership within the organisation and as a mentor to others.
“Within such a short timeframe, Monique has established herself as a responsive, proactive and exemplary practitioner, a true rising star who is respected and trusted by her peers and our community.”
The annual Economic Development Awards for Excellence are offered by Economic Development Australia and recognise practitioners for their achievements and contributions to their community.
