New citizens not beaten by the heat on Australia Day

On Friday 26 January, 59 people officially became Australian Citizens after they took their Australian Citizenship pledge at the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

Despite the extreme heat forecast for the day, the new citizens, their family and friends, attended a celebration at the Norwood Concert Hall.

The event also included the presentation of the Council’s 2018 Citizen of the Year to Ian Rohde. A proactive and influential member of our local community for over 40 years, the Council was thrilled to recognise Ian’s achievements and passion for his community. Find out more

The Australian Girls’ Choir set the tone of the day while everyone shared their stories over morning tea.

The Council extends a warm (40 degree!) welcome to our new citizens!
