George Street Piazza – temporary closure George Street, Norwood
The Council is aware that a flyer has been distributed to residents in Norwood regarding the staging of events on George Street Norwood.
The Council has not proposed to undertake a permanent or ongoing closure of George Street Norwood.
The closure of George Street on 15 April 2018 is for the staging of the George Street Piazza event.
A small section of George Street, Norwood will be closed on a temporary basis only on 15 April 2018, for the George Street Piazza event.
The section of George Street that will be temporarily closed is the section between The Parade and Webbe Street.
It will be closed from 5.00am until 8.00pm.
Access to and egress from the major car parks within the vicinity of George Street, will not be restricted.
Access to the Norwood Mall car park (Coles car park) will be via George Street (the southern side of The Parade) and Edward Street, and access will be unrestricted for vehicles travelling on George Street to The Parade from the southern end of George Street.
Access to the other two major car parks (Norwood Place/Foodland and Parade Central/Hoyts Cinemas), will also be unrestricted as the closure of George Street will only extend to just south of the intersection of George Street and Webbe Street.
Access to and egress from these car parks will be via George Street, Edward Street and Harris Street.
A letter will be forwarded to residents four weeks prior to the event setting out the relevant details of the road closure.
