COVID-19: NPSP provide rate rebate for non-residential property owners

08/05/2020

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters this week endorsed a discretionary rebate for eligible non-residential property owners for the Fourth Quarter of 2019–2020.

At its meeting on Monday 4 May, the Council agreed to a Differential Rate rebate for non-residential property owners who can demonstrate financial hardship due to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic widespread and affecting many people and businesses within our community, the Council is working to assist ratepayers, residents, business operators and community organisations wherever possible.

The rebate of the Differential Rate—which is charged for non-residential property owners—is an additional measure and forms part of the Council’s 2019–2020 Financial Support Package which was put in place in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This particular measure is intended to assist those non-residential property owners—such as commercial property owners, RSLs and Rotary Clubs—that are feeling the financial effects of the current environment.

Non-residential and commercial property owners wishing to apply for a rebate of the 20% Differential Rate should contact Council staff to discuss their individual circumstances and enquire about their eligibility to access the Council’s 2019–2020 Financial Support Package.
