40km/h speed limit in Norwood and Kent Town

The speed limit in residential streets of Norwood and Kent Town will soon be permanently reduced from 50km/h to 40km/h.

The streets that will be reduced to 40km/h are the residential streets bound by Magill Road, Portrush Road, Kensington Road, Dequetteville Terrace and North Terrace.

Main roads will be excluded from the speed limit change and will remain at their current speed limit. These are Fullarton Road, Rundle Street, Flinders Street, The Parade, The Parade West and Osmond Terrace.

Roll out of signs

The 40km/h signs will be rolled out in August 2022.

There will be a grace-period in September before the South Australian Police enforce the speed limit in October 2022.

Why a 40km/h speed limit?

A community survey held in 2021 identified that the majority of the community supported a speed limit reduction to 40km/h, to make roads safer for everyone, support walking and cycling and improve neighbourhood livability.
