Our Zest for Life 2018 Program is presented as part of the COTA Zest Fest 2018 Festival for Modern Ageing.

Bookings for all events are essential and can be made online. Alternatively, bookings can be made at the Norwood Town Hall, Payneham and St Peters Libraries

Zest for Life Concert

Featuring SA Police Band

In 1884, 14 musicians formed a volunteer Brass Band from within the ranks of the Adelaide Metropolitan Foot Police; the first Police Band in Australia. Today, the Band of the South Australian Police performs hundreds of community and Government events annually, and the demand grows with each passing year. Join us for a light morning tea while soaking up the musical talents of the SA Police Band.

Author Event - Artist Ben Quilty

Hosted in conjunction with Dillions Bookshop Norwood, join us for an evening with Ben Quilty who will be talking about the book: Home: A collection of drawings by Syrian children, the most vulnerable victims of a brutal civil war, curated by Archibald Prize winner Ben Quilty, with a Foreword by Man Booker Prize winner Richard Flanagan. 


Ben Quilty has assembled this heartbreaking and awe-inspiring collection of drawings by Syrian children. These drawings form an extraordinary testament to the resilience of a generation of survivors whose childhood has been shaped by the worst war of our century. Their art speaks directly to us all as human beings. Proceeds from the sale of this book will directly support World Vision’s Child Friendly Spaces, early childhood and basic education projects in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.

Guided tour of an Award winning Sustainable Garden

In 2016 Chris Bryant and John Boland’s Felixstow garden won the residential category of the City of NPSP’s Sustainable Garden Awards program. Join them on a tour of their garden which produces 30% of their food, acts as climate control, a habitat for frogs, birds and lizards and as a sanctuary and place for enjoyment.

Tours of the St Peters Billabong

The St Peters Billabong is a hidden gem. After being painstakingly re-created to its pre-European prime, the Billabong is once again a haven for native wildlife and a wonderfully tranquil and beautiful place to visit. It is also home to the Council’s first native bee hotel.
