Daily Moves

Daily Moves is a free supportive physical activity program for adults aged 65 years and above.

The Daily Moves program aims to encourage participants to move their bodies daily for 30 minutes.

Daily movement, including things like taking out the bins, can go a long way to maintaining independence, preventing frailty, managing chronic pain, keeping us socially connected, lifting our mood, along with many other benefits.

Every aspect of the Daily Moves program is free of charge. 

How we can support you (during and after COVID-19)

Daily Moves during COVID-19 restrictions

The social distancing restrictions in place due to COVID-19 have resulted in significant changes to the Daily Moves program. Our priority is keeping our communities healthy and safe from harm. However, physical activity remains important now, just as ever.

The program continues to support participants to undertake independent exercise in their homes, gardens and local parks by providing:

  • free online workout videos, health education seminars and more
  • home exercise kits with a program book, equipment and fact sheets
  • opportunity for an online personal training consult
  • recipe e-books and other resources
  • encouragement to track their physical activity via the Go Get Fit app
  • regular phone call or email check in to see how they are going with their fitness goals
  • fact sheets, resources and DVDs in the post.

Daily Moves after COVID-19 restrictions

Once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, we hope to commence re-offering:

  •  free fitness assessment every six months, undertaken at a local venue or in the participant’s home
  • development of individualised Daily Moves Plans
  • access to complimentary physiotherapy, exercise physiology, personal trainer, support worker and/or volunteer to help participants get active
  • exciting Come and Try program, offering a range of fitness opportunities and short courses
  • health education seminar program.

Every aspect of the Daily Moves program is free of charge.

Daily Moves is available for residents in the following council areas:

  • City of Burnside
  • Campbelltown City Council
  • City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters
  • City of Prospect
  • City of Unley
  • Town of Walkerville.

Daily Moves keeping you active - online!

The Daily Moves program works with local providers to create new videos each week, which you can stream from the Daily Moves YouTube channel. This includes all abilities workout videos, cooking demonstrations, health education talks, and more.
