YouthFM Training program
YouthFM Radio Training is a unique opportunity for young people to learn about radio, interviewing and producing documentaries.
The training leads to an opportunity to become a member of the YouthFM team to produce features for radio (Three D Radio 93.7fm) on an ongoing basis in a supportive team environment.
Involvement with the YouthFM Program provides an excellent opportunity for young people to develop and demonstrate transferable skills that increase their employability. Skills include public speaking, written and verbal communication and technical radio abilities.
Youth FM may also act as a stepping stone to other volunteer or career pursuits in the radio and media industries.
YouthFM participants attend two days of training, which provides them with the necessary skills and knowledge to join the Youth FM team.
YouthFM training covers:
- YouthFM overview
- broadcast law
- technical skills
- outside broadcasting
Participants attend a series of training sessions, after which they are put into teams which coordinate one live radio show a month on Youth FM.
How to get involved
Recruitment of YouthFM participants occurs twice a year in April and October.
To be eligible for YouthFM you must live, work or study in one of the partnering Council areas.
