Each Council area has a development plan that relates specifically to their area.
The Council plays a major role in shaping the development of the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters by acting as the decision-making body on development applications, as well as drafting policies to guide the assessment of development proposals for the City.
These policies are contained in a document called a development plan. Each council has its own development plan, which provides planners with guidelines (policies) to follow when assessing a development application. The Development Act 1993, requires that all councils develop and periodically review a development plan for their Council area.
