A new planning system is being introduced for South Australia.State Planning graphic

South Australia’s planning system is currently undergoing its biggest reform in over 20 years, led by the State Planning Commission through the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI).

The State Government is releasing a number of documents and discussion papers outlining how the proposed new system will work. Aspects of the new system will be implemented across 2019 and 2020.

Draft Development Assessment Regulations and Practice Directions

Consultation closes 1 March 2019

The draft Regulations and draft Practice Directions provide operational details relating to development assessment in the new planning system such as how applications are processed, who is making development decisions and how applications are notified to neighbours.

These documents are currently on consultation and members of the community are encouraged to find out more and contribute your thoughts on the draft documents.

Given the complexity of the draft Regulations and Practice Directions, DPTI have also released a guide to the consultation documents and an information sheet for residents.
