The Battams Road Linear Park Bank Remediation involves on-site recovery of the eroded riverbank along the River Torrens near the corner Battams Road & Ninth Avenue, Royston Park.

Background

As the river flows through the metropolitan area, it is fed by stormwater runoff from the surrounding suburbs, as well as contaminants from urban areas, affecting the stability of river banks and obstructing flow.

Project detail

Work being undertaken includes:

  • debris and unstable soil removal
  • some vegetation removal to ensure bank stability and safety of our workers and the community
  • installation of concrete pins and rock reventment wall (a landscaped rock wall that steps back into the eroded embankment area) that will appeal to the natural surroundings and support the riverbank through any future high water events
  • temporary removal of existing infrastructure such as walkways and fencing for better access during construction.

The shared use path will remain open during remediation works.

The Contractor will begin removing reeds in the area beginning 30 January 2023 to commence the rectification works. The project will require the removal of four trees to make the area safe.
