Plans are well underway to transform the Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre into a state-of-the-art water park.

The Council will be investing $16.5 million next financial year in this project, in addition to $500,000 being spent this year.

Once completed the Council’s investment will be almost $24 million, which includes a $5.6 million contribution from the State Government.

The Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre Upgrade includes:

  • two new pools
  • high platform waterslides
  • water play areas
  • disability access ramps to facilitate the increased use of the existing facilities as well as support greater independence for all patrons.

Work is expected to start in late–2022.

The redeveloped Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre is planned to be open for the 2023–2024 swimming season.
