Australian Citizenship

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters hosts citizenship ceremonies throughout the year to welcome new citizens into the community.

Becoming a citizen

All applications for Australian citizenship are processed by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

For information on how to apply for Australian citizenship, visit: Department of Immigration and Protection or call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.

Citizenship ceremonies

The final step in the journey to become an Australian citizen is to make the Australian Citizenship Pledge at an Australian citizenship ceremony. Once your Australian Citizenship application has been approved, you will be invited to attend your ceremony.

Most citizenship ceremonies are organised and hosted by local councils. While the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters hosts citizenship ceremonies, the Council is unable to provide information regarding the timing of your ceremony.

If you have not received an invitation to attend a citizenship ceremony, you will need to call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.
