Kitchen Organics Service
Kitchen organics baskets and compostable bags make recycling food waste easy.
Free liner bags
Every year, generally in July, household are provided with two free rolls of 150 compostable liner bags (about a year’s supply) for their kitchen organics basket. How to collect
The Council's kitchen organics service is a significant waste reduction initiative to encourage and support the recycling of household food waste. The system allows you to separately store food waste from other household waste, then easily deposit it into your green organics bin, along with your organic garden waste.
The Council has supplied every house with a ventilated kitchen organics basket and a roll of compostable liner bags. Plastic bags (even if they are bio degradable) must not be used in the basket as they are not compostable. The basket is dishwasher safe.
Please note: The basket is to remain at your property. If you move house, please leave the basket and bags at the property for the next occupant to use.
