ANZAC Day Public Holiday

Council facilities will be closed on ANZAC Day, Thursday 25 April.

In the event of a Council-related emergency you can contact the Council for any non-life-threatening emergencies, such as a fallen tree or stormwater flooding, on our after-hours emergency number: 8366 4555.

If you have a life-threatening or emergency situation dial Triple Zero (000).

Libraries

Our Libraries will be closed on ANZAC Day, but you can access plenty of reads, movies, learning opportunities and virtual activities from home! Visit: Online catalogue

Do you have a book to return? Items can be returned via the after-hours chutes which are located at the St Peters Library and Payneham Library.

ANZAC Dawn Services

The Payneham RSL Club will host Dawn Services to commemorate the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who served and died in war and on operational service.

Payneham RSL:

Start time: 6:15am

Location: The Cross of Sacrifice Memorial, Eastern side of OG Road, Felixstow (next to the Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre).

Norwood RSL:

Start time: 6:00am

Location: Norwood Memorial, Osmond Tce, Norwood (near The Parade).

Road Closure Notification 

I declare that the ‘ANZAC Day Event Norwood’ is an event to which this section applies and that the following road be closed to traffic between 4.00am and 8.30am on Thursday 25 April 2024:
Within the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters:

  • Osmond Terrace, Norwood between The Parade and a point approximately 160 metres south.

I direct that persons taking part in the ‘ANZAC Day Event Norwood’ on the above road be exempted from all Australian Road Rules relating to pedestrian behaviour on roads. TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE NOTICE UNDER SECTION 17 (3) ROAD TRAFFIC ACT, 1961

I further declare that the ‘ANZAC Day Event Norwood’ to be conducted at Norwood is a ‘temporary purpose’ to which this section applies.
I direct that a 25 km/h speed restriction will apply to the following road between 4.00am and 8.30am on Thursday 25 April 2024:
Within the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters:

  • Osmond Terrace, Norwood between The Parade and a point approximately 80 metres north
  • The Parade, Norwood between a point approximately 30 metres west and east of Osmond Terrace.
  • Osmond Terrace, Norwood between a point approximately 160 metres south of The Parade and a point approximately 190 metres south of The Parade

I also hereby authorise Altus Traffic Management or its agents and contractors to install and remove, or cause the installation and removal of necessary and appropriate traffic control devices for the conduct of this event.
