Lights, carols, action! NPSP has a stocking full of activities this Christmas

02/12/2022

The festive season has well and truly arrived in our City, with Twilight Carols this Saturday and a range of activities for the whole community to enjoy well into the new year.

Mayor Robert Bria said the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters had already hosted one magical Christmas event, the Norwood Christmas Pageant on 26 November, and now the community could look forward to much more.

“This Saturday night, Linde Reserve, at Stepney, will be filled with laughter and cheer as people gather to sing all of their favourite festive songs at Twilight Carols,” he said.

“This free family-friendly event includes activities for children and a special visit from Father Christmas.

“The following week, on Saturday 10 December, Adey Reserve, at Firle, is the setting for our annual open-air cinema and this year we will be screening, The Santa Clause, there will also be pre-movie entertainment.

“For the first time, the Council is hosting a Christmas Wreath Workshop on Saturday 10 December at Blooms Flowers, The Parade, Norwood and Adelaide based artist, Alexandra Bellas has painted a series of Christmas inspired artworks at the Memorial Gardens, out the front of Norwood Oval.

“There’s also plenty of colour and vibrancy at the annual Festive Gallery on Osmond with the Christmas trees and presents lovingly decorated by children from local schools.

“Residents of Ninth Avenue have once again adorned their homes with annual Christmas light displays — which has become a popular attraction and helped to build a strong community spirit.

“The Council’s Libraries are also buzzing with Christmas vibes with a full program of activities and events including a free Christmas movie screening and craft workshops,” he said.

To help brighten the lives of children in need, the Council is also welcoming donations for the Give the Gift of Reading initiative as part of the Backpacks 4 SA Kids Program. Donations will be accepted until 23 December.

“As we come to the end of another eventful year, the festive season is a great opportunity for our community to come together to enjoy the many activities and attractions that form the Council’s Christmas in NPSP program.
