Plaques, Monuments & Memorials

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters recognises the importance of commemorative memorials in celebrating our City's history, events and people.

The Council recognises the need to commemorate events, organisations, groups or people who have made significant contributions to our City.

We also recognise that residents may wish to remember loved ones who have passed and who made a meaningful contribution to our local community.

The Plaques, Monuments & Memorials Policy provides guidance for the Council and community as to when plaques, monuments and memorials can be installed on Council owned or managed land in the City.

Who can request a plaque or memorial

You can request a plaque or memorial for an individual, organisation or group if you are a:

  • ratepayer of the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters
  • resident or business owner within the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters
  • person who works and is employed in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters
  • member of any group or association located in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

Apply to install a plaque or memorial

Please complete and submit the online Plaque and Memorial Application Form.

Please allow 6-8 weeks for your request to be considered.

Before making an application, please ensure you have read the Plaques, Monuments & Memorials Policy. The Policy outlines the Council’s requirements for different types of plaques, monuments and memorials along with guidelines about location, costs and eligibility.

The location of the plaque, monument or memorial is ultimately at the discretion of the Council.
