The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters hosts citizenship ceremonies throughout the year to welcome new citizens into the community.
Australian Citizenship applications
All applications for Australian citizenship are processed by the Department of Home Affairs.

Australian Citizenship Ceremonies
The Department of Home Affairs manages the Australian Citizenship Program, including policies relating to citizenship ceremonies and the list of people approved for citizenship and ready to attend a ceremony.
Once your Australian citizenship application has been approved, the Department of Home Affairs will invite you to attend a citizenship ceremony.
While the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters hosts citizenship ceremonies, is unable to provide information about when you will be invited to attend your ceremony.
If you have not received an invitation to a citizenship ceremony, please contact the Citizenship Information Line at 131 880.
What to do if you cannot attend your citizenship ceremony
If you are unable to attend your citizenship ceremony, please contact the Department of Home Affairs to discuss rescheduling your ceremony.
Council cannot conduct a private citizenship ceremony without the official approval and required documentation from the Department of Home Affairs.

2026 Citizenship Ceremony dates
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters holds citizenship ceremonies four to five times a year.
Please note: The 24 August ceremony has been cancelled. The 8 December ceremony has been rescheduled to Thursday 8 October 2026.
