Australian Citizenship

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters hosts citizenship ceremonies throughout the year to welcome new citizens into the community.

All applications for Australian citizenship are processed by the Department of Home Affairs.

For information on how to apply for Australian citizenship, visit: Department of Home Affairs or call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.

Upcoming citizenship ceremonies

The Department of Home Affairs manages the Citizenship program including the policy around citizenship ceremonies, and the list of conferees who have been approved for citizenship and are ready to attend a ceremony.

Once your Australian Citizenship application has been approved, you will be invited by the Department to attend your ceremony.

While the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters hosts citizenship ceremonies, the Council is unable to provide information regarding the timing of your ceremony.

If you have not received an invitation to attend a citizenship ceremony, you will need to call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.

Please note: If unable to attend a ceremony, contact the Department of Home Affairs to reschedule. On rare occasions the Department may arrange a private ceremony. The Council is unable to conduct a private ceremony without the official approval and documentation from the Department of Home Affairs.
