The City's heritage is recognised in a number of ways, most significantly through the listing of state heritage places, local heritage places and contributory items in the City's Development Plan, which increases the extent of statutory protection.
The Council also provides heritage assistance initiatives to help owners of heritage listed buildings and buildings located within historic (conservation) zones to conserve, restore and appropriately redevelop their properties.
