In 1884, a group of 14 musicians from the Adelaide Metropolitan Foot Police came together to form Australia’s first Police Band. What began as a volunteer brass ensemble has evolved into the renowned Band of the South Australian Police, now performing at hundreds of community and government events each year, an ever-growing presence in the state’s cultural life.
