The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is continuing to invest in local playgrounds and open spaces, helping to ensure they remain safe, welcoming and enjoyable places for our community.
Commencing in August 2026, five local community playgrounds will undergo upgrades. The works will improve play equipment, safety and the overall experience for children and families.
These projects form part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving community facilities across the City.
Playgrounds being upgraded
The following local community playgrounds will receive new playground equipment, edging and soft-fall mulch:
- Maurice Clayton Reserve – Augusta Street, Maylands
- Stacey Reserve – corner of Bakewell and Elizabeth Streets, Evandale
- Linde Reserve – between Nelson and Stepney Streets, Stepney
- Scott Street Reserve – Scott Street, Firle
The playground at Adey Reserve, Scott Street, Firle, will also undergo a significant transformation, with new facilities designed to improve the play experience and better integrate the playground with the surrounding reserve and natural environment.

Playground softfall renewal
As part of Council’s asset renewal program, rubber softfall will also be replaced at a number of local playgrounds to ensure the surfaces continue to meet safety requirements.
The playgrounds identified for softfall renewal are:
- James Coke Park – Coke Street, Norwood
- Drage Reserve – Riverside Drive, Felixstow
- Felixstow Reserve – Langman Grove, Felixstow
- Joslin Reserve – between Third and Fourth Avenues, Joslin
- Linde Reserve – between Nelson and Stepney Streets, Stepney
- Twelftree Reserve – corner of Richmond and Torrens Streets, College Park
Continuing investment in local playgrounds
These projects build on the extensive program of playground upgrades delivered during the current term of Council, including modernised facilities at St Morris Reserve, Broad Street Reserve, Bridge Road Reserve, Burchell Reserve and the popular Dunstan Adventure Playground.
What to expect during the works
Works will be delivered progressively from August 2026, with all works scheduled to be progressively completed and finalised into the New Year.
During construction, the playgrounds will be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of contractors and the public. In the meantime, visit a neighbouring playground from our Playground Listing
We appreciate your patience and understanding while these improvements are delivered and look forward to welcoming the community back to these refreshed playgrounds.
