A new zebra crossing is being installed on Thornton Street, near the intersection with Regent Street, to improve safety and accessibility for all road users.

The crossing is located close to:

  • Thornton Street Reserve
  • McKellar Stewart Kindergarten
  • The Kensington Hotel
  • Walking connections to Marryatville Primary School.

About the zebra crossing

A zebra crossing is a type of pedestrian crossing marked with white stripes on the road. It gives priority to pedestrians and cyclists entering or using the crossing. Drivers must give way to anyone on or approaching the crossing.

To maintain clear sight lines between pedestrians and drivers, six on-street car parks will be removed.
