09/12/2021

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has endorsed the draft 2022 – 2025 Youth Development Strategy for community consultation, paving a clear path for programs, initiatives, advocacy and support for young people over the next four years.

There are four key components to the Strategy - which also align with the Council’s long-term strategic plan, CityPlan 2030: Shaping Our Future. They are:

  • Young people are connected, included and welcomed;
  • Young people are active and healthy;
  • Young people have resilient futures and;
  • Young people are visible and heard.

The draft Strategy was written following comments which have been received from young people who live, work, study and play in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

The feedback received clearly stated mental health and diversity as high in importance for young people.

“The Strategy will provide overall direction for the Council’s youth programs over the next four years,” Mayor Robert Bria said.

“Young people are integral to Council’s vision of a progressive City which is prosperous, sustainable and socially cohesive, with a strong community spirit.”

“Applying a youth lens over Council activities will identify where value can be achieved for young people and how the participation of young people can add value to community,” he said.
