Countdown is on: Just four sleeps until the return of the Norwood Christmas Pageant

22/11/2022

There are just four sleeps before the Norwood Christmas Pageant will roll along The Parade – delighting thousands of children – following a two-year forced break due to COVID-19.

Mayor Robert Bria said he was thrilled the Pageant is back with all its colour and glory, and it is expected to attract a record crowd on Saturday 26 November, starting at 10:00am

“It is one of most loved and anticipated events in our City – with more than 20,000 people expected to watch the festivities along The Parade this year,” he said.

Council staff had been working around the clock to ensure Santa’s special float looked absolutely magical, following rain damage in 2020.

Eager and keen eyes also will also notice the Princess Float which this year had a more regal look – matching the beautiful costumes lovingly stitched by a dedicated team of Volunteers.

The Council has also commissioned a new float – Rocking Around The Christmas Tree - featuring a large Christmas tree and a rock n’ roll theme to add some groove to the already vibrant event.

“After the very disappointing news for the past two years that the Pageant could not go ahead, we are calling on the community to help us celebrate in style and in the spirit of Christmas,” he said.

“The Norwood Christmas Pageant provides a wonderful opportunity for community groups, schools, businesses and individuals to participate in the festivities.

“It takes a huge amount of planning, time and love to bring the Norwood Christmas Pageant to the community and the Council would like to thank all the participants, Volunteers and spectators who helped make this event one to remember,” Mayor Bria said.

“Not only does the Pageant create long-lasting festive cheer, it also provides a boost to our local economy with many families and residents staying in our City to enjoy our world-class food and hospitality.”
