Festival of Footy on South Australia’s Premier Mainstreet, The Parade
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has welcomed the AFL’s decision to return for the fourth instalment of AFL Gather Round in South Australia.
The fixture for 2026 features two games at Norwood Oval:
- Sydney v Gold Coast in a twilight match on Saturday 11 April, and
- Geelong v West Coast Eagles on Sunday 12 April.
Outside of the games, local sporting groups and businesses celebrate by hosting events and activations, the whole City has something to offer.
With a combination of world-class footy, delicious food and lively local festivities, the 2026 AFL Gather Round promises to be another unforgettable event.
Norwood Oval (Coopers Stadium)
Located on The Parade, Norwood, Norwood Oval (Coopers Stadium) boasts a history spanning over 140 years and is the proud home of the Redlegs SANFL team.
How to get here
The Parade and Norwood Oval are just a punt and kick from Adelaide’s CBD. Easy to get to and even easier to enjoy, make time to visit and linger longer.
Bus
Adelaide Metro Go Zone – catch a bus every 15 minutes. All bus stops along The Parade are fully accessible.
Footy fans can enjoy free public transport to all matches during Gather Round with a valid game day ticket.

Adelaide’s flat, picturesque landscapes are perfect for enjoying a bike ride - not to mention the fresh air and exercise! A purpose built bike lane runs along The Parade between Fullarton Road and Osmond Terrace.

Drive
There's a range of free and time limited parking options on The Parade, with on-street parking spaces, sections of side streets and customer car park facilities.

Road Closures
Temporary road closures will be in place for the event.

Thursday: 9.30am to 8.00pm
Friday: 6.00am to 8.00pm
Saturday: 6.00am to 11.00pm
Sunday: 6.00am to 10.00pm
Monday: 6.00am to 1.00pm
DETAILS: Road closure to accommodate the set-up of infrastructure (including back-up generators) and for pedestrian access to and from the Norwood Oval. Access for residents and businesses of Woods Street, Beyer Street and Teresa Street will be permitted – please communicate with the Traffic Controllers stationed at road junctions.
LOCATION: THE PARADE (both directions) from Osmond Terrace to Portrush Road
FRIDAY 10 APRIL – MONDAY 13 APRIL
Friday: 7.00pm – midnight
Saturday: 12.00am – midnight
Sunday: 12.00am – midnight
Monday: 12.00am – 7.00am Southern Carriageway (city bound traffic)
12.00am – 10.00am Northern Carriageway (hills bound traffic)
DETAILS: Road closure for the Norwood Food & Wine Festival. Residents of Cairns Street will be escorted by Traffic Controllers from the Portrush Road end of The Parade and two-way local traffic will be permitted along Margaret Street and Church Avenue.
LOCATION: OSMOND TERRACE (both directions) from The Parade to Beulah Road.
SATURDAY 11 APRIL – 4.30am – 8.00pm
DETAILS: Road closure to accommodate the Rivals Long Lunch, event time 11.30am – 3.00pm. Local traffic will be permitted along Osmond Terrace travelling southbound to maintain access to Conigrave Lane and Orange Lane.
LOCATION: THE PARADE (both directions) from Sydenham Road to Osmond Terrace (not including the Osmond Terrace intersection)
SATURDAY 11 APRIL – 1.00pm - 8.00pm
DETAILS: Road closure to accommodate for safety of the Norwood Oval patrons and access for shuttle buses.
LOCATION: THE PARADE (both directions) from Sydenham Road to Osmond Terrace (including the Osmond Terrace intersection)
SUNDAY 12 APRIL – 10.00am - 10.30pm
DETAILS: Road closure to accommodate for safety of the game and the Norwood Food & Wine Festival patrons.
Parking Restrictions
LOCATION: THE PARADE (both sides) from Osmond Terrace to Portrush Road
Friday 10 April – 2.00pm to Monday 13 April – 10.00am
DETAILS: Strictly no parking on The Parade to allow for infrastructure bump-in for Norwood Food & Wine Festival.
LOCATION: THE PARADE (both sides) from Elizabeth Street to Osmond Terrace
Saturday 12 April – 1.00pm to 8.00pm
DETAILS: Strictly no parking on The Parade within road closure. Will facilitate access for the AFL shuttle bus and the temporary bus stop.
LOCATION: THE PARADE (north side) from Sydenham Road to Woods Street
Saturday 12 April – 1.00pm to 8.00pm
Sunday 13 April – 10.00am to 10.30pm
DETAILS: Parking permitted for taxis and rideshare only. Access via The Parade (Sydenham Road End) and exit via Elizabeth Street.
LOCATION: OSMOND TERRACE (both sides): from south of Conigrave Lane to Orange Lane.
Sunday 12 April – 12.00am to 11.00pm
DETAILS: Strictly no parking to facilitate access for the AFL shuttle buses and the temporary bus stop.
LOCATION: MARGARET STREET
Friday 10 April – 2.00pm to Monday 13 April – 7.00am
DETAILS: Parking restrictions will be in place on the east side of Margaret Street to allow for two-way vehicle access. Parking will be provided on west side of Margaret Street.
LOCATION: CHURCH AVENUE
Friday 10 April – 2.00pm to Monday 13 April – 7.00am
DETAILS: Parking restrictions will be in place on the east side of Church Avenue between Kingsborough Lane and The Parade to allow for two-way vehicle access.
