The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters offers local history research services with access to an extensive collection of historical records and resources.
Our Cultural Heritage Research Service can help you research when a house was built, previous owners and occupants, business history, family history and local heritage.
Fees apply to some research requests. A free volunteer-assisted research service is also available for eligible residents. Any applicable fees will be discussed and agreed before chargeable research begins.

Cultural heritage research request
Research the history of businesses, families, organisations and the local community using the City's historical collections and resources.

- Family history (general assistance only)

- Access to Council rates assessment records

- Access to pre-amalgamation Council minutes.

While every effort will be made to locate relevant information, the availability and completeness of historical records cannot be guaranteed.
Research requests are generally completed within two weeks; however, processing times may vary depending on the complexity of the request and the volume of enquiries received.
Any applicable fees will be discussed and agreed prior to the commencement of chargeable research services.
