It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is the place to come together with family and friends and enjoy a range of events, attractions and activities this Christmas.
The Christmas in NPSP festivities commenced with Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition and will culminate with an al fresco gallery of hand painted large-scale wooden Christmas trees, with a host of activities, events and programs in between.

Osmond Terrace, Norwood
Norwood’s very own open-air Christmas tree art gallery returns in 2020 to showcase the creative talents of children from local schools. Students decorated 42 wooden Christmas trees which are displayed along Osmond Terrace for everyone to enjoy.

The photo with the most ‘likes’ by 12 noon on Monday 4 January 2021, will win a $500 voucher to Dillons Norwood Bookshop for the school, plus $1,000 to a charity of choice, that was kindly donated by the Norwood Parade Precinct Committee.

Shop local and explore the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters this Christmas!
The advent calendar is a digital and interactive experience which will reveal special offers across a range of local businesses in the lead up to Christmas.
New offers will be revealed daily from Tuesday 1 December – Thursday 24 December and once the door has been opened, the offer remains available until the end of the year, unless otherwise specified in the business' terms and conditions.

Residents of Ninth Avenue are set to bring joy to our local community this festive season with their annual Christmas lights display.

Santa and his friends might be isolating at the North Pole this Christmas, but they’ve made a special visit to The Parade!
Download the free Arloopa App, visit one or all four of the locations listed below which are identifiable by large footpath decals, access the ‘Scanner’ feature in the app and hover your phone or tablet over the image and watch Santa and his friends come to life!
Then jump in with them to capture a photo and post it to your social media. Be sure to add the hashtag #christmasonparade so we can see your adventures!
You will find Santa and his friends at the four locations below:
- Santa and the Christmas on Parade star — The Parade crossing between Norwood Mall and Norwood Place (southern side) with Norwood Place and the crossing or Norwood Mall in the background
- Santa and his reindeer — in front of Parade Central with the Norwood Town Hall in the background
- Three snowmen dancing — corner of Queen Street and The Parade (north eastern corner) with the Odeon or the Bath Hotel in the background
- Elf and a snowman — Norwood Oval in front of the heritage board and to the west of the fountain with the fountain or rotunda in the background

Round up your family for a night at the movies and catch a free screening of Miracle on 34th Street (1994) at our open air cinema on Norwood Oval, Coopers Stadium.
Free event, bookings are essential.
Christmas Pageant Floats on Osmond Terrace
Osmond Terrace, Norwood
Visit Osmond Terrace to see your favourite floats from the Norwood Christmas Pageant!
Despite cancellation of the Norwood Christmas Pageant due to the COVID-19 pandemic, five floats from this much-loved community event will be on display along Osmond Terrace from 18–28 December.
The Gingerbread House, Rocket Ship, Norwood Town Hall, Pageant Princess and of course, Father Christmas, will add some extra Christmas cheer and another free attraction to visit this Christmas.
Please be mindful of current physical distancing restrictions and health guidelines.

The City of Norwood Payneham & Peters is again partnering with Backpacks 4 SA Kids to bring joy to the lives of children in need this Christmas.
The public are encouraged to participate by purchasing a new book, colouring or activity pack for a child or young adult and leaving it under the Christmas tree at any of the Council’s Libraries or at the Norwood Town Hall
Christmas Movie at the Library
9 December, 2.00–4.00pm
Watch a free screening of Last Christmas (M) at Payneham Library — a festive heart-warming comedy with a twist.
The Mayor's Christmas Card Competition is open to children from Reception to Year 7 from all schools in the Council area.
Each year, children are invited to draw or paint a Christmas scene that they feel captures the spirit of the festive season.
The entries are judged by Mayor Robert Bria and awarded first, second and third prizes from each year level, in addition to an Overall Winner.
The winning entry from each year group is printed on Christmas Cards with the student’s name, year and school printed on the inside of the card. IN addition, the winning entry will appear on the cover of the December edition of Look East.

Christmas and New Year opening hours
Some of our facilities have different opening hours over the Christmas and New Year period. Normal hours resume on Monday 4 January 2021.
