Baby Bounce and Rhyme

Baby activityFree activity. No bookings required.

Held weekly during school term.

St Peters Library: alternate Wednesdays 10.30 -11am

Payneham Library: alternate Thursdays 10.30-11am

A fun and interactive session aimed at introducing babies and young children to libraries, action songs, nursery rhymes and rhythm. Suitable for parents, grandparents and people caring for children aged 0-2 years. Siblings are most welcome to attend.

Storytime and Craft Sessions

St Peters Library: Mondays 10.30 -11.30am

Payneham Library: Tuesdays 10.30-11.30am

A special time for toddlers and parents to participate and share in stories, crafts activities, fun and laughter. Ideal for children aged 2-5 years of age.

School Holiday Programs

Children sportAn interactive program to encourage children to explore, create and become inspired. This is offered to families across the three library sites during the School Holidays.

The programs are popular so parents are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. Most programs are provided free of charge, but if there are any costs involved (usually to cover materials) these are kept to a minimum.

Children's University

childrens university libraryChildren's University Australia offers educational experiences for children aged 7-14 and volunteering opportunities for 15-18 year olds.

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Libraries are approved Learning Destinations for Children's University with a range of approved activities for participants in Children's University to access.

When you visit one of our three libraries for an approved learning activity bring your Passport to Learning with you and get a stamp for the time you spent learning with us.

Premier’s Reading Challenge

Premier's Reading Challenge logoThe Premier’s Reading Challenge is a literacy engagement program that was introduced by the Premier of South Australia in 2004 with the aim of encouraging students to read more books, enjoy reading and improve their literacy levels.

The Challenge requires student to read 12 books between the beginning of the school year and early September.

Children's Book Week

CBCA full logoEach year across Australia, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week.

During this time you will often see children's book character parades and talented librarians creating amazing displays.
