Labour statistics provide critical information about the size and structure of Australia’s workforce, which is required for policy formulation, evaluation and macro-economic modelling.

Labour statistics also help to measures the relationships between employment, income and other social economic characteristics.

The Council monitors labour force statistics to understand the impacts of strategic actions implemented by local, state and federal government in relation to economic development now and into the future.
