Henry's 1We have signed the Small Business Friendly Council Charter, a program led by the Small Business Commission SA (SBC) to strengthen our support for small businesses in our City.

This commitment aligns with our Economic Development Strategy, which aims to remove barriers and make it easier for business owners to start, operate and grow.

What this means for local businesses

As a Small Business Friendly Council, we:

  • Remain accessible, engaged and responsive to the needs and concerns of small business owners
  • Champion local business voices through forums, advisory groups and regular consultation opportunities
  • Invest in the vitality of local precincts, including town centres, main streets and public infrastructure
  • Encourage local economic activity through “buy local” campaigns and supplier diversity initiatives
  • Support financial sustainability by ensuring timely payment practices, especially for small suppliers
  • Strengthen the local workforce through skills programs, employment partnerships and business capability building
  • Provide clear, consistent and streamlined regulatory processes that reduce unnecessary red tape
  • Promote early problem solving by maintaining collaborative relationships and providing access to dispute resolution pathways when needed
  • Celebrate local success stories to inspire innovation and pride in the small business community.

We are proud to partner with the Small Business Commission SA to help build a thriving, inclusive and fair environment for small business in South Australia.
