Profile and contact
Cr Sue Whitington
I have lived in Norwood for over thirty years, enjoying its culture, character, liveliness and strong sense of community. That is why I stood for election to Council in 2000 and I am honoured to have represented the West Norwood and Kent Town area continuously since then.
I have served on numerous Council committees, including Cultural Heritage and Community Arts. I am currently Chair of the Eastern Health Authority Board and a member of the Norwood Parade Precinct Committee, and a Local Government representative on the South Australian Public Health Council.
I also enjoy giving time to other community organisations. I have previously served on the Boards of the Cystic Fibrosis Association and Eastside SA; the Governing Council of the Norwood Primary School; and the OSSAA committee, a volunteer organisation that provides surgical aid to East Timor. I am a Board Member of the Carpe Diem Trust (which financially assists young people to achieve their early life potential), and recently qualified as a volunteer with the State Government’s Community Visitors Scheme. The volunteers in this scheme act as advocates for clients who reside in State Government disability and mental health accommodation. I am particularly excited about my role in this immensely worthwhile scheme.
I am a retired hospital scientist specialising in immunology. In my spare time I pursue my loves of music, theatre, film, gardening and travel. I am also a member of a community choir, for some relaxation and the sheer joy of singing with others.
I care deeply about our City, about Norwood and about our community. As an advocate of open communication, I am always available to hear your concerns.
