Role Description

Annual salary of 61,862 – 65,369* + 11% Superannuation. *Note: 10% wage increase effective from 1 November 2023 upon approval by SAET.

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is located just five minutes east of Adelaide’s CBD and features picturesque tree-lined streets with over 180 hectares of open space including 72 parks and reserves.

The Role
Working in some of Adelaide’s most popular public open spaces, the Team Member, Parks & Gardens will undertake various activities to ensure the Council’s parks, trees and street trees are maintained for the enjoyment of our community.

Responsibilities will include proactive maintenance works such as mowing, mulching, pruning, planting, weed control and playground inspections, as well as reactive and emergency works such as removal of fallen trees, litter collection, irrigation repairs, removal of branches and tree limbs and collection of illegally- dumped waste.

About You
To be successful in this position you will enjoy working outside, be a proactive team player and possess the following skills and experience:

• Certificate in Horticulture or significant demonstrated vocational experience (desirable)
• Current motor vehicle driver’s licence (essential)
• Class MR or greater licence (essential)
• Chainsaw competency ticket and elevated work platform competency ticket (desirable)
• Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate (desirable)
• High level of knowledge of horticultural best practice
• General knowledge of the principles of Work Health & Safety
• Be reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
• Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation whilst working under minimal supervision.
• Commitment to provide a high level of customer service.
