Annual salary of $105,348 - $112,528 + Statutory Superannuation

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is an inner eastern metropolitan Council, nestled on the outskirts of the CBD. The area enjoys a reputation as one of Adelaide’s most desirable places to live, work, study and visit.

The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Urban Planning & Sustainability, the Sustainability Officer is responsible for ensuring that the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters delivers on a range of leading sustainability initiatives. The Sustainability Officer responds to current issues, community expectations and legislative responsibilities to improve environmental performance within the organisation and across the broader community.

This diverse role co-ordinates the delivery and review of programs relating to water and energy management, climate change, biodiversity, carbon emissions reduction and natural resource management. The Sustainability Officer collaborates closely with East Waste, who deliver waste education programs to the community and Council staff, to facilitate sustainable waste management practices.

About You
To be successful in this position you will be a passionate environmentalist who possesses the following skills and experience:
• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science or similar related discipline.
• Proven experience (minimum of three (3) years) in environmental management.
• Proven experience in program delivery, project management and reporting, including leading environmental education campaigns.
• Proven experience in strategic analysis and policy formulation.
• Proven experience in preparing reports and information for the community and decision-making committees and/or Council or similar.
• Proven strengths in clearly communicating complex issues to various audiences and formulating effective community engagement materials.
