Annual salary of $74,667 - $76,349 + Statutory Superannuation
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is an inner eastern metropolitan Council, nestled on the outskirts of the CBD. The area enjoys a reputation as one of Adelaide’s most desirable places to live, work, study and visit.
The Role
Based at the Council’s Works Depot in Glynde, the Mechanic & Storekeeper is responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing Council vehicles, machinery, plant and equipment. The role also serves as the primary contact for all deliveries, oversees depot yard and workshop housekeeping, orders parts and consumables and provides support to the City Services unit as required.
Reporting to the Manager, City Services, the Mechanic & Storekeeper is responsible for ensuring all servicing and repairs are completed in a timely manner, in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
About You
To be successful in this position you will be a pro-active team player who possesses the following skills and experience:
• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology and/or Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
• Heavy Vehicle Driver’s License – Medium Rigid (Class MR) minimum.
• High Risk Work Licence – Forklift Truck (Class LF)
• High level of proficiency in workshop and mechanical practices, with demonstrated experience in the maintenance and operation of plant and equipment.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
• Trade Certificate in light welding and steel fabrication (Desirable)
• High Risk Work Licence – Boom-type elevating work platform (Class WP) (Desirable)
• Certificate of Competency in skid steer loader and backhoe operation (Desirable)
Job Requirements
• National Criminal Records (Police) Clearance with no adverse findings.
• Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check
• Maintain a level of fitness and physical ability necessary to meet the inherent requirements and physical demands of the role throughout the period of employment.
