The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is an inner eastern metropolitan Council, nestled on the outskirts of the CBD. The area enjoys a reputation as one of Adelaide’s most desirable places to live, work, study and visit.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the St Peters Child Care Centre & Preschool - a Council-owned, community-based service located in Stepney, committed to delivering high-quality early learning and care.

The Role
Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director plays a key role in the day-to-day operational leadership of the Centre. This includes ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards, supporting staff in the delivery of educational programs, and maintaining strong relationships with families, carers and the wider community.

Working closely with the Director, you will help translate strategic goals into daily practice, mentor staff across the service, and contribute to a culture of collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideally suited to someone with a passion for early childhood education, a strong understanding of compliance frameworks, and the ability to inspire, guide and support others.

You will be actively engaged in the daily operations of the Centre - mentoring educators across rooms, supporting their professional growth, and ensuring children experience high-quality care and learning in a safe, inclusive and engaging environment.

If you are passionate about shaping young minds, building confident teams, and making a meaningful impact every day, we encourage you to apply.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a confident and capable early childhood leader with experience in supporting daily operations, mentoring staff and maintaining compliance with relevant frameworks and legislation.

You will bring a strong understanding of curriculum development, inclusive practice and the developmental needs of children aged six weeks to five years. Your ability to communicate effectively, lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture will be key to your success in this position.
