Getting Around - Community Transport Services

The Council provides transport for eligible residents to and from local shopping centres and social programs.

Bus Volunteer in Bus

The Council offers accessible transport for older  residents who are registered with My Aged Care and eligible for services under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

These services make it easier to: 

  • Travel to shopping centres
  • Attend Council social programs

Transport is delivered by friendly Council volunteers and supported by partner organisations, helping residents stay connected and independent.

Please note: Waiting lists may apply for some services.

Community bus 

Accessible transport to and from:

  • Local shopping centres
  • Council-run social programs

The bus is equipped for disability access.

Wednesday morning (fortnightly)

Avenues Shopping Centre / Norwood Parade Precinct

Hackney, College Park, St Peters, Stepney, Maylands, Joslin, Royston Park, Evandale

Cost $4.00 return

Wednesday morning (monthly)

Tea Tree Plaza/Burnside Village

All suburbs in City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters

Cost: $5.00 return

Thursday morning (weekly) Marden Shopping Centre

Glynde, Payneham, Marden, Felixstow, Firle, Payneham South

Cost $4.00 return

Friday morning (weekly) Norwood Parade Shopping Precinct

Norwood, Kensington, Marryatville, Heathpool, Kent Town, St Morris, Trinity Gardens 

Cost $4.00 return

Community car

Transport to and from shopping centres is available for residents unable to use the community bus due to physical limitations.

Standard Transport: Cost: $9.00 return

 

Escorted shopping:

A support worker accompanies and assists with shopping

Fortnightly service

Cost: $13.00 per service

 

Shopping List Service:

A support worker completes a pre-prepared list for the resident

Cost: $10.00

Red Cross Transport (Non-Council Service)

Red Cross offers a door-to-door transport service for eligible people attending non-urgent medical appointments or social outings.

Who can use It?

Residents who are:

  • Elderly
  • Living with disability
  • Without access to other transport.

About the service

A Red Cross volunteer will:

  • Pick you up from home
  • Drive you to your appointment.
