Social Activities

Our program of social activities include lunches, excursions, exercise classes and shared interest activities.

Social activities provide great opportunities for forming new friendships and being part of a fun and relaxing group activity.

Social Programs are available to residents living in the Council area, who are registered with My Aged Care and eligible for services under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

Lunch at the Pub 

When: Twice a month on a Monday

Time: 12pm to 1:45pm

Transport: available for people who no longer drive at a cost of $2.00 (waiting list may apply)

Cost: $15.00 (main meal)

Enjoy a main meal at one of the many popular hotels in the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters.

Excursion Program

When: Once per month on selected Tuesdays throughout the year

Duration: 4 to 7 hours depending on the places visited

Transport: Door-to-door transport from your home and return is included

Cost: $10.00 bus fare (payment required in advance)

There are two groups to choose from:

Lunch Bunch

 Suitable for people with limited mobility, with minimal walking required. Participants who use a four-wheel walker are welcome.

Lunch venues are pre-booked and may include cafés, bakeries and hotels throughout Adelaide.

Lunch is at the participant's own expense.

Out and About

Participants are dropped off at a designated location and advised of a return time for the bus.

They are free to explore the area independently and choose their own venue for lunch.

To participate, individuals must have a high level of mobility, be able to negotiate steps independently, and have the stamina to walk for extended periods.

Stepping Out

Cost: Free

Would you like to take part in more social activities, learn a new hobby or craft, or simply have a cup of tea and chat in your own home, then the Stepping Out program is perfect for you!

The Stepping Out program assists older socially isolated residents who want to reconnect with the community by matching residents with a Council Volunteer who has a common or mutual interest.

Strength and Balance Exercise Class

When: Weekly

Time: Monday 1.30pm - 2.30pm OR Thursday 10.30am - 11.30am

Location: Payneham Community Centre, 374 Payneham Road, Payneham

Cost: $7.00

This is a group exercise class led by a qualified fitness instructor.

The program includes a variety of standing exercises, with chair-based options available for those who need them.

Registration with My Aged Care is required to access the class and a medical clearance form will be issued by the Community Services Coordinator before commencing in the program.
