Annual salary starting from $89,121 + Statutory Superannuation

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is an inner eastern metropolitan Council, nestled on the outskirts of the CBD. The area enjoys a reputation as one of Adelaide’s most desirable places to live, work, study and visit.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Traffic Engineer to positively contribute to Council’s traffic management solutions that improves safety for all road users.

The Role
Reporting to the Manager for Traffic and Integrated Transport, the Traffic Engineer is responsible for implementing Council’s On-Street Parking Policies, encouraging sustainable transport modes and liaising with staff and stakeholders to improve neighbourhood liveability.
• Review, assess and respond to customer and stakeholder requests relating to parking and traffic matters, providing clear, timely and evidence-based advice.
• Provide expert advice on traffic, transport, and road safety matters.
• Identify areas of improvement in parking, traffic flow or safety concerns
• Lead the implementation and ongoing application of the Council’s On-Street Parking Policy, including translating policy objectives into practical, on-ground outcomes.
• Liaise and facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders on traffic management matters for the project
• Manage traffic and transport projects within budget and timeframes.
• Prepare, maintain and review traffic related policies and standards and assist with data collection and reporting

About You
To be successful in this position you will be an effective communicator who possess the following skills and experience:
• Qualification or experience in traffic and transport management, investigation, analysis and design.
• Knowledge of traffic related legislation, standards, guidelines, codes of practices in South Australia.
• Ability to assess planning and building developments in relation to traffic, parking and access requirements.
• Strong communication skills and experienced in addressing challenging situations, diverse people and interests, and resolving complex problems.
• Strong computer literacy including developing concept designs, data analysis, using AutoCad, Auto Turn and Microsoft Suits.
