Chief Executive’s Office / St Peters Child Care Centre & Preschool
COOK
• Permanent Full-time position – Monday to Friday
• Play an important role in supporting children’s health and wellbeing
• 1 x Rostered Day Off each month
Annual salary of $68,659.14 + Statutory Superannuation
The St Peters Child Care Centre & Preschool has a friendly and caring atmosphere that offers a highly professional early education service and educational program. The St Peters Child Care Centre & Preschool values a supportive learning environment for both the children and Educators and the importance of play in assisting children to learn.
The Role
Prepare age-appropriate morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea for the children between 0-5 years old in our centre while ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and food safety, including:
• Working with parents and Educators with children’s dietary requirements and sensory issues on food.
• Create and manage quarterly rotating menus with seasonal ingredients and variety.
• Ensuring the kitchen environment and equipment is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Stock control and ordering within set budget and maintaining record keeping.
• Maintain record keeping and report writing to assist in centre’s Quality Improvement Plan
• Participating in festive meals and cultural celebrations.
About You
You have a genuine passion for preparing wholesome, nutritious meals for children and take pride in encouraging positive food experiences that help children feel comfortable, curious, and confident with the meals provided.
Some qualities include:
• Experienced in cooking in a childcare centre or similar environment.
• Knowledge and experience in preparing food with dietary and allergy requirements.
• Strong food knowledge and ability to keep up to date with kitchen management legislation and trend.
• Ability to work well independently with great time management skill.
• Great team player and willing to assist the team when required.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
